Assumption Life continues to be one of the top employers in the Atlantic Provinces. The Best Places to Work in Atlantic Canada survey conducted by Progress magazine has ranked it in 14thplace on its list, unveiled today at a luncheon in Halifax. Full details will be published in a special issue of the magazine, to hit stands in June.

André Vincent, Assumption Life’s recently appointed President and CEO, is delighted by the firm’s ranking: “Since I arrived, I’ve seen that this really is a big family. Our highly qualified and deeply committed employees are vital to the company’s success. The programs that are in place and the quality of our internal management practices help us attract and retain the best and the brightest in the industry.”

After making the list of the best employers in the region and nation-wide for several years now, Assumption Life is especially proud of the consistent level of excellence it has achieved in terms of employee satisfaction and internal practices. “Where we are on the Best Places to Work in Atlantic Canada list is secondary for us. The fact that we continue to be singled out for recognition year after year among the region’s leading employers speaks to the positive working environment we have here. We are very fortunate to have an outstanding team of professionals on board who are enjoying long and rewarding careers with us. We work hard to create a pleasant, stimulating workplace for our people, with policies and practices that meet their needs,” stated Rachelle Gagnon, Director of Human Resources. In the survey, employees gave Assumption Life high marks for team spirit as well as the feeling of being valued. This is echoed in the 96% staff retentionrate.

The Progress magazine survey measures employees’ satisfaction based on various criteria, including wages, benefits and overall work environment. The results are then analyzed and compiled according to eight core focuses: leadership and planning, corporate culture and communications, role satisfaction, work environment, relationship with supervisor, training and development, pay and benefits and overall engagement. Employees awarded Assumption Life an overall satisfaction score of 89%.
