Moncton (NB), August 19, 2021 - Following a one-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Assumption Life's fundraising golf tournament is back in a big way: $100,000 has been raised to support the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute (ACRI).

The business community responded to Assumption Life's call for solidarity and demonstrated its unwavering support for ACRI at this event held on August 17, 2021, at the Fox Creek Golf Course in Dieppe. This 19th edition alone generated $100,000 in revenue.
The event was so popular that it sold out almost a month before the tournament began. Yesterday, close to 150 golfers took part in this event that has become an essential community engagement event.
This year, the tournament focused on local pride.  From the participants, to the guest of honour Philippe Myers, a Nashville Predators player from southeastern New Brunswick, and the special participation of Lukas Cormier, a Vegas Golden Knights player from Ste-Marie-de-Kent, to the local products served up along the course, the tournament offered an opportunity to remind us of the importance of supporting our communities.
"We are all touched, in one way or another, by the effects of cancer. Since its first golf tournament in 2001, Assumption Life has been proud to support the ACRI, which is doing remarkable work in the fight against this disease. Our golf tournament is a direct reflection of Assumption Life's commitment to the community. Our company and its employees are actively involved in their communities to make a difference," said Sébastien Dupuis, President and CEO of Assumption Life.
"Since 1998, cancer research conducted at the ACRI has been, and continues to be, recognized globally in its contribution to cancer diagnostics, prevention and treatment advancement. Like any research institute, ACRI relies on the generosity of its community and personal donations to fund its operations, specifically the costs related to running the institute. Proceeds from this golf tournament is a significant contributor to our funding efforts. Your contribution is vital to its continued success and we thank you for your support in whichever form it comes.’’ said Brigitte Sonier-Ferguson, ACRI's interim President and CEO.
